Soul Surfer 2011 is an American drama film directed by Sean McNamara based the screenplay on Hamilton's biographical book of the same name and on filmmakers' interviews with the family. Soul Surfer is an inspiring true to life story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton starring AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, and Carrie Underwood. Soul Surfer is set to be released in theaters on April 8, 2011.
Bethany Hamilton was born to surf. In 2003, a champion teen surfer, was attacked by 14-foot tiger shark while surfing, which severs her left arm. She never gives up and fights through this tragedy overcoming those odds with the help of her loved ones and friends and eventually gets back on board to fulfill her dreams of becoming a pro surfer through her sheer determination and unwavering faith.
