Red Riding Hood 2011 is a dark fantasy film based on the folk tale Little Red Riding Hood collected by both Charles Perrault under the name "Le Petit Chaperon Rouge". Red Riding Hood is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson. Red Riding Hood stars Amanda Seyfried, Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Julie Christie, and Gary Oldman. It is set to be be released in theaters on March 11, 2011 by Warner Bros Pictures distribution.
In a medieval village of Daggerhorn, a young woman named Valerie plans elope with her woodcutter lover, an outsider named Peter, to avoid an arranged marriage to Henry Lazar, a wealthy man. Valerie and Peter's plan to elope is delayed when Valerie's older sister is found slaughtered by the mysterious werewolf that surrounds their village for years. The people of Daggerhorn have maintained an uneasy agreement with the beast by offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood-red moon, the werewolf ups the stakes and takes a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call for a famed Witchfinder General, Father Solomon, to help them mark down and kill the beast. Solomon’s arrival, however, brings unintended consequences, as he warns that the werewolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon and panic grips the town, Valerie discovers she has a unique connection to the beast one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect and bait.
